We like water butts and we cannot lie!
If everyone used a standard water butt, we could save 30,000 millions litres of water each summer. So how can you get hold of one? Well, your local council maybe the answer.
Many county councils and water suppliers now offer free and discounted water butts, in a bid to help you save money on your water bill and help the environment. Now is the perfect time to install a water butt, before it becomes too cold and those famous English rainfalls get heavier.
Uses of rainwater
A water butt works by collecting rainwater from your roof through the guttering and storing it to be used at a later date.
Rainwater can be used to water plants, clean your car, clean outdoor areas such as a patio or to improve your own compost. Using rainwater means that you save money on your water meters and may mean you never have to use your hosepipes again!
