Wonga is proud to have been named a winner of Red Herring 100 EMEA, an accolade given to the top 100 private technology companies based in Europe, Middle East and Africa. We were also named Online Business of the Year at the 2009 Startup Awards and Best Application of Technology for Customers at the Financial Innovation Awards.
The Wonga website has also received an IMA Outstanding Achievement Award in the financial services category. The Interactive Media Awards recognise the highest standards of excellence in website design.
Our innovation, technology and commitment to responsible lending was recognised at the prestigious Credit Today Awards, when we were named Credit Risk Team of the Year for 2009. We narrowly missed out on Responsible Lender of the Year at the same event, after making it to the short list of three.
We're also chuffed our founder and CEO was named Credit Suisse Entrepreneur of the Year in the South East final of the National Business Awards. On a roll, he also received a Ruban d'Honneur from the European Business Awards, for the 2009 RSM International Entrepreneur of the Year.
But it's not all about our top brass! The innovative work of our techies meant Wonga was a finalist at the 2008 CNET Technology Awards. More recently, we were highly commended in the Orange Best Use of Technology in Business category, by the judges of the National Business Awards. Likewise, the judges of the International Business Awards, or 'Stevies,' recently hailed our service as a finalist in the Best New Financial Service category.
Our strong growth and innovative approach to credit was recently recognised by the First Tuesday Awards, when we made the final three Most Promising Internet Companies from nearly 200 entries, plus the Telegraph and YouNoodle's 100 Best UK Startups for 2009. Wonga was also named One to Watch in 2009 by the organisers of the annual Media Momentum list. And, back when we were still in beta mode, Startups.co.uk also saw our promise and put us in their Startups 100 list (top 20 no less). And as they said at the time: if they're hot, they're here!
